Have you ever considered how your business impacts the environment? Perhaps there are new clean technologies that may benefit your business and provide you with a competitive advantage? Are you aware of the Province’s recent carbon tax commitment and how it will impact your business? CME has a group of likeminded individuals in the Energy and Environment Committee who can provide assistance in navigating these issues and questions. The Committee engages in activities that support CME members through discussions and initiatives surrounding topics like securing reliable and cost competitive access to clean energy; sustainable business practices; regulatory clarity and innovative clean technology. The group meets every two months, or as needed, to discuss issues involving energy or the environment that may have an impact on CME members.
I’ve been involved in the manufacturing sector for seven years and have been a participant in this committee for three. I co-chair the Committee with Natalia Klumper. Our group has been instrumental in bringing government representatives to the table to discuss new regulations, policies and even the new climate and green plan. As a participant, I’ve brought incredible value back to my workplace and have provided value to others by sharing my experiences.
Using a formal agenda, we review and share the latest industry developments, opportunities and incentives, barriers we face, and best business practices. Participants who cannot attend a particular meeting can stay engaged and informed through meeting minutes - although participation is your best source to being current.
We’re always looking for members to join this diverse group. If you or anyone from your organization feel you would benefit from participating, please email us care of CME Manitoba – firstname.lastname@example.org
