Interveners at PUB hearings voice opposition to proposed hikes
Beware the people who oppose a 7.9 per cent hydro rate increase through 2024, Manitoba Hydro has warned — they threaten to force much higher rates and debt on Manitobans long into the future.
Interveners before the Public Utilities Board hearing that started Monday morning represent only their own members, not the people of Manitoba who will be saddled with even higher debt and higher rates for a longer time if they succeed, said Hydro lawyer Patricia Ramage.
